Sister Maria Elsa Heni, a nurse by profession, regularly visits the elderly to check their temperature and blood pressure, and deliver vitamins and basic necessities such as rice, milk and cooking oil. She also shares information on how to live healthily during this pandemic and how to follow health guidelines provided by the government, and encourages them to plant vegetables in their own yards.
Most of them are Muslims, and they are happy to meet a Catholic Sister who serves them. Sister Maria Elsa sees this as an opportunity to build relationships beyond the boundaries of religion, race and culture. The people of this community regard her as their sister, their neighbour and their healer.
